Attachment, Loss, and Mourning in Group Psychotherapy

red well theater group

Cheri Marmarosh, PhD & The Red Well Theater Group

November 4 - 6, 2016

Cambridge, MD

Perhaps in no other treatment modality are attachments more alive than in group psychotherapy, where issues of loss and mourning are immediately experienced and survived. This conference will demonstrate the power of the group to both elicit and cope with painful loss through the integration of
theory, research, and clinical practice.

A Red Well Theater Group play reading presentation will dramatically illuminate the human struggle between longing for attachments and the inevitability of endings and goodbyes.

Cheri Marmarosh, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor in the Professional Psychology Program at the George Washington University and a licensed psychologist in D.C. She has taught group psychotherapy for almost 20 years and has published over 40 empirical and theoretical articles that focus on group and individual. She is currently an associate editor for Division 29's journal, Psychotherapy. Dr. Marmarosh is also on the editorial board of AGPA's International Journal a/Group Psychotherapy. She is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association. Dr. Marmarosh is the lead author of two books, Attachment in Group Psychotherapy and Groups: Fostering a Culture of Change.

The Red Well Theater Group contributes to the professional development of group therapists through presentations that feature a dramatic play reading combined with a clinically informed commentary and audience discussion.
